The narrated online course is media-rich, with animations, video clips, and photographs. It is available anytime and can be completed in 1 or more sessions. Upon completion of the 2.5-hour cognitive portion online, participants complete their skills ( 1 hour) with an instructor to receive an official certification card.

The course content includes essential information for when medical help is more than one hour away, including how to signal for help, when to evacuate, modified first aid supplies, handling injuries and illnesses from altitude illness and wild animal encounters to lightning strikes and bites and stings. Extensive scenario practice. This advanced 16-hour course meets Boy Scouts of America requirements and exceeds the requirements for the Girl Scouts of the USA. Certification is valid for 2 years.
